Description

22 VIII 1485
king Richard (...) was piteously slane and murdred to the grete hevynesse of this citie … (The Council of York, according to the Richard III Society website [link] )

Full view doesn't hurt, really. ^^

A quick drawing of Richard III Plantagenet, king of England. Done especially for the anniversary - 22nd of August, as in 1485 it was the day when He died in the battle at Bosworth Field with Henry Tudor. He was only 32.

I'm a Ricardian with all my heart, so I felt obliged to create something on this memorable day, a kind of tribute and after considering all the bits and pieces, I've decided to do another drawing. Once again it is a portrait of the Richard from my dream, with no basic images used, only the one that lasted in my memory.

The drawing is quick, done in less than two hours, so I did not concentrate on the details of the clothing (and I'm not very good at drawing clothes either), but rather on the face. And somehow I did not picture Him in a crown, as He's never wearing it in my dreams. ^^
HB, 5B, 6B and 8B pencils on paper.

My previous (much better :P ) portrait of Richard can be found here: [link]

A fellow Ricardian!

This is beautiful. There is no malice in his gaze, as is too often shown.

Richard truly was the closest England ever got to having a true King Arthur: Fair minded, a loving family man, and a valiant man at arms
